BISP Announces Rs1 Million Compensation for Families After Rahim Yar Khan Incident

A tragic incident took place in Rahim Yar Khan, where several women gathered at a payment centre under the Benazir Income Support Programme lost their lives after a roof collapse.

According to initial reports, six women died, while several others were injured during the حادثہ at a private bank’s payment point.

💔 Compensation Announced for Victims

Authorities have announced financial assistance for the affected families:

  • Rs1 million for each deceased woman’s family
  • Rs300,000 for each injured individual

Officials confirmed that the payments will be completed on an urgent basis.

🚨 Investigation and Action Ordered

Following the incident, BISP has issued a notice to the partner bank involved and announced that a heavy fine will be imposed.

BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid expressed deep sorrow and, on the direction of Asif Ali Zardari, immediately left for Rahim Yar Khan to review the situation and meet affected families.

A high-level inquiry committee has also been formed to investigate the incident and submit a detailed report within 24 hours.

📢 Assurance of Strict Action

Officials stated that if negligence is proven, strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.

The government has also assured full support to the affected families and emphasized that safety standards at payment centers will be reviewed.
